As material handling equipment, forklifts have extremely stringent requirements for their wheel rims, as they directly affect the vehicle's load-bearing capacity, stability, and safety. These requirements are primarily determined by the forklift's working environment and nature of operation.

The primary requirement for forklift wheel rims is their ability to withstand enormous static and dynamic loads. When a forklift lifts heavy objects, the rim needs to withstand the vertical pressure generated by the cargo, the vehicle's own weight, and the hydraulic system. During operation, especially on uneven surfaces, the rim also withstands additional impact forces. Therefore, forklift wheel rims must be manufactured from high-strength materials and specially designed to prevent deformation, cracking, and fatigue failure.

Forklifts require frequent starts, stops, and turns, and often involve lifting heavy objects at heights. This necessitates excellent lateral and torsional stability in the wheel rims. The rim geometry must be precise to ensure secure tire mounting and prevent tire slippage during high-speed travel or sharp turns, thus ensuring the safety of operators and goods.

Forklift operating environments are complex and varied, potentially involving various ground conditions such as concrete, asphalt, gravel, and even some corrosive environments. Therefore, wheel rims must possess the following characteristics: Impact resistance: able to withstand impacts from ground debris (such as gravel and metal shavings). Wear resistance: the rim edges and surface should not wear excessively under long-term, high-intensity use. Corrosion resistance: if the forklift operates in a humid or chemically exposed environment, the rim's surface coating and materials must effectively resist corrosion.
